My Own Birth Story

 Rebecca Pelka
 
      My name is Rebecca Pelka. Professionally I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist for the last 8 years.  Over the past 4 years, I have begun attending births, doula training, attending birth conferences, informational forums on birth, birth culture, postpartum mood disorders, etc. I have furthered my massage education and training and in so doing, extended my practice to mainly include pre, and post natal, and massage birthing assistance.    
      
     Personally, I am a wife, and a mother of 2 beautiful gifts straight from the Lord.  My girls are 3 yrs, and 1 1/2.  My first daughter was born after a very long labor in a Buffalo hospital, and my second was born very gently into the hands of our wonderful Buffalo home birth midwife, and handed right to daddy and I.  That last birth was the experienced that altered me for GOOD, and I truely believe for the better. That "little" girl weighed in at a whopping 11 LBS. 2 OZs. WOW!!!She was the tool that the Lord used to open my eyes to the life that He had planned for me, and the life that He is  revealing to me daily.  My Husband and I are very dedicated to having a Christian home, where the Lord is first in all of our lives.  We are raising our girls to know The Lord as their creator, and Jesus Christ as their Saviour.  He is the King, and He ROCKS!!      
       The birth of that last daughter of ours, showed me what is possible with this amazing creation, my body, He has made.  Birth is what He has fully equipped me to do, and through my understanding of that for my own birth experience, I hope to encourage other women to believing how awe inspiring these vessels really are, what is possible and what  God's perfect creation of birth IS.  I am grateful that he has placed me in a time and age where we do not have to worry about women dieing in childbirth due to a lack of technology ( not that lack for sure).  But the technology that we do have to fall back on, I feel, has taken the place of women knowing and trusting what their bodies were created to do through birth, what their breast were created to do in nursing their children, and thet their whole person was created to be a nurturer of those children.
