Beginning in the new year, I will be offering a 7 week childbirth education class, entitled, "Educated Birth Series" These classes will cover all of the birthing basics including:

 ~Anatomy and Physiology of Mother and Baby

 ~Nutrition/

 ~Understanding Labor in Stages

~Labor Support

~Decisions to be made about labor and birth/ Writing your birth plan

~Breastfeeding

~Postpartum Family Adjustments

~Natural Living

        ~and MUCH more!

 

    A new, fresh look at interventions, hospital, birthing center and home births will be intergrated into this class. There will not be a strong emphasis placed on any one decision, But ALL facts will be dicsussed.  I feel that hospital childbirth classes teach you too much about hospital protocol, than on listening to your own intuition. But there is also a downside, I feel, to natural childbirth classes, in that they, often times, present natural birth as the only acceptable way to have a child.  I have had one hospital birth and 2 wonderful homebirths and I know that Homebirth is best for ME and for my family.  However, I understand and RESPECT that not everyone is comfortble w/ that scenario. 

   I will focus on debunking, if you will, myths and misunderstandings aroung the overall beliefs about birth in this country.  We will be exploring the research and guidlines of the World Health Organization surrounding birth, and challenging the acceptable "norm".

  When you are through with this class, I hope to have given you ALL facts on EVERY option that you have as a birthing woman, and new mother.  You will be better equipt to make the choises best for YOU and for YOUR family.

 

   ~As an extra part of this series, I will offer, to those interested, one class at the end of the 7 week period (the 8th week) on Christian Childbirth called "Christ Centered Childbirth". This approach to birth is based on a book, of the same title, by Kelly Townsend. This focuses on ways to bring your relationship with the Lord into your pregnancy and birth. This 8th class, is FREE! I would like to invite all those interested to join us for this last class.
